All 180 seats of the state's lower legislative chamber are up this year.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Georgia to select candidates for the November general election. That included the races for all 180 seats of the State House of Representatives for regular two-year terms.
The Georgia House of Representatives currently features 102 Republicans and 78 Democrats. 167 incumbents ran for re-nomination today - with open seat contests in Districts 61, 64, 65, 71, 74, 96, 117, 126, 131, 143, 145, 169 and 170. A candidate needs to achieve a 50%+1 majority in the primary to receive their party’s nomination. Otherwise, the top two finishers will advance to a June 18 runoff.
