2024 Indiana State Senate Primary Results
25 of the 50 seats in the state's upper legislative chamber are up this year.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Indiana to select candidates for the November general election. That included the races for half of the State Senate for regular four-year terms - 25 seats overall.
The Indiana State Senate currently features 40 Republicans and 10 Democrats. 24 incumbents ran for re-nomination today - with an open seat contest only in District 24. A candidate only needs to achieve a plurality of the vote to receive their party’s nomination.

Incumbent Lonnie M. Randolph won the Democratic primary unopposed.

For District 3:
Mark Spencer won the Democratic primary with 65.5% against incumbent David Vinzant with 34.5%. 9,804 votes counted.
Will Miller won the Republican primary with 62.8% against Maya Angelou Brown with 37.2%. 1,841 votes counted.
For District 5:
Leslie Nuss Bamesberger won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Ed Charbonneau won the Republican primary unopposed.

No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Brian W. Buchanan won the Republican primary with 66.8% against Joseph Bookwalter with 33.2%. 15,833 votes counted.
For District 8:
Leon P. Smith won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Mike Bohacek won the Republican primary with 44.4% against Joe Layne with 33.1% and Spencer England with 22.5%. 13,386 votes counted.
