Senator Mike Braun Secures Republican Nomination for Governor of Indiana
Statewide primaries in Indiana occurred today for U.S. Senate and Governor.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Indiana to select candidates for the November general election. That included two races for statewide office - one executive position and one federal seat in the U.S. Congress.
In Indiana, it only takes a plurality of the vote in the primary for a candidate to receive their party’s nomination. Governor Eric Holcomb was term-limited while Senator Mike Braun opted to run for Governor instead.
For U.S. Senate:
Valerie McCray won the Democratic primary with 68.0% against Marc Carmichael with 32.0%. 178,811 votes counted.
Jim Banks won the Republican primary unopposed.
For Governor:
Jennifer McCormick won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Mike Braun won the Republican primary with 39.5% against Suzanne Crouch with 21.7%, Brad Chambers with 17.5%, Eric Doden with 11.9%, Jamie Reitenour with 4.8%, and Curtis Hill with 4.6%. 599,184 votes counted.
The general election for these two statewide races in Indiana - in addition to the contests for the U.S. House of Representatives, state Attorney General, the State Senate and the State House - will occur on Tuesday, November 5.
