2024 North Dakota House of Representatives Primary Results
50 of the 99 seats in the state's lower legislative chamber are up this year.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in North Dakota to select candidates for the November general election. That included the races for half of the seats in the State House of Representatives for regular four-year terms - 46 seats overall. The chamber also has special elections in Districts 9 and 15 following a court-ordered change in district lines.
The North Dakota House of Representatives currently features 82 Republicans and 12 Democrats. The state divides itself into 47 districts with each electing two to the State House. However, District 4 is subdivided further to ensure Native representation in government. In the primary for the multi-member districts, both parties can nominate two candidates to advance to the general election.
For District 2:
Betty Dhuyvetter and Gene Nygaard won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Bert Anderson and incumbent Donald Longmuir won the Republican primary with 29.0% and 28.5% against Alexa Althoff with 26.2% and Charles Ringwall with 16.2%. 4,318 votes counted.
For District 4A:
Incumbent Lisa Finley-DeVille won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Ronald Brugh won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 4B:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Clayton Fegley won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 6:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Dick Anderson and Dan Vollmer won the Republican primary with 29.0% and 28.4% against Pat Bachmeier with 21.9% and Kolette Kramer with 20.4%. 6,905 votes counted.
For District 8:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Mike Berg and incumbent SuAnn Olson won the Republican primary with 28.0% and 27.2% against incumbent Brandon Prichard with 26.7% and Ken Rensch with 17.9%. 5,931 votes counted.
For District 9 (Special Election):
Incumbent Jayme Davis and Collette Brown won the Democratic primary unopposed.
David Brien and Robert Graywater won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 10:
Incumbent Hamida Dakane won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Steve Swiontek and Jared Hendrix won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 12:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Mitch Ostlie and incumbent Bernie Satrom won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 14:
Jessica Hawkes and Cathy Jelsing won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Robin Weisz and incumbent Jon Nelson won the Republican primary with 28.7% and 26.0% against Jason Steidl with 24.1% and Larry Danduran with 21.2%. 7,659 votes counted.
For District 15 (Special Election):
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Kathy Frelich and incumbent Donna Henderson won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 16:
Phil Weiss and Julie West won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Ben Koppelman and incumbent Andrew Marschall won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 18:
Mary Adams and Scott Nelson won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Steve Vetter and Nels Christianson won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 20:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Mike Beltz and incumbent Jared Hagert won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 22:
Darrell Hansen won the Democratic primary unopposed.

For District 24:
Nancy Farnham and Shawn Olauson won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Dwight Kiefert and Daniel Johnston won the Republican primary unopposed.

Incumbent Jeremy Olson and Roger Maki won the Republican primary with 36.7% and 31.9% against incumbent Kelby Timmons with 31.2%. 3,452 votes counted. Notably, only 23 votes separate Maki and Timmons in the unofficial election results.
For District 28:
Sara Dux and Mary Schlosser won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Michael Brandenburg and incumbent Jim Grueneich won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 30:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Mike Nathe and incumbent Glenn Bosch won the Republican primary with 31.4% and 31.0% against Justis Amundson with 19.4% and David Charles with 18.0%. 4,330 votes counted.
For District 32:
Shari Orser won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Lisa Meier and incumbent Pat Heinert won the Republican primary with 39.2% and 36.6% against Phillip Jacobs with 23.9%. 2,905 votes counted.
For District 34:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Nathan Toman and incumbent Todd Porter won the Republican primary with 43.1% and 39.2% against David Villafana with 17.5%. 4,118 votes counted.
For District 36:

For District 38:
Lisa Hermosillo won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Dan Ruby and Christina Wolff won the Republican primary with 42.8% and 31.0% against Lisa Olson with 25.9%. 3,261 votes counted.
For District 40:
Alexandra Deufel won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Matthew Ruby and Macy Bolinske won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 42:
Sarah Grossbauer and Carol Hagen won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Doug Osowski and incumbent Emily O’Brien won the Republican primary with 41.6% and 29.5% against Sadie Hanson with 28.4%. 1,021 votes counted.
For District 44:
Incumbent Karla Rose Hanson and Austin Foss won the Democratic primary unopposed.
No candidate qualified for the Republican primary.
For District 46:
Todd Reisenauer and Will Thompson won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Jim Kasper and Desiree Morton won the Republican primary unopposed.
