2024 North Dakota State Senate Primary Results
25 of the 47 seats in the state's upper legislation chamber are up this year.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in North Dakota to select candidates for the November general election. That included the races for half of the seats in the State Senate for regular four-year terms - 23 seats overall. The chamber also has special elections in Districts 9 and 15 following a court-ordered change in district lines.
The North Dakota State Senate currently features 43 Republicans and 4 Democrats. 15 incumbents ran for re-nomination today - with open seat contests in Districts 2, 4, 6, 36, 40, 42, 44, and 46. It only takes a plurality of the vote for a candidate to receive their party’s nomination.
For District 2:
Rosemary Tanberg won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Mark Enget won the Republican primary with 64.8% against Robert Harms with 35.0%. 2,593 votes counted.
For District 4:

Chuck Walen won the Republican primary unopposed.

Paul Thomas won the Republican primary with 64.1% against Zach Lessig with 35.7%. 3,696 votes counted.
