2024 Oregon State Senate Primary Results
15 of the 30 seats in the state's upper legislative chamber are up this year.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Oregon to select candidates for the November general election. That included the races for half of the State Senate for regular four-year terms - 15 seats overall.
The Oregon State Senate currently features 17 Democrats and 13 Republicans. 8 incumbents ran for re-nomination today - with open seat contests in Districts 2, 12, 23, 27, 28, 29, and 30. It only takes a plurality of the vote for a candidate to receive their party’s nomination.
For District 1:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent David Smith won the Republican primary with 55.9% against Todd Vaughn with 29.8%, Paul Romero with 8.4%, and Ashley Hicks with 5.7%. 19,154 votes counted.
For District 2:
Tracy Thompson won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Noah Robinson won the Republican primary with 61.1% against Christine Goodwin with 38.6%. 21,445 votes counted.
For District 5:
Jo Beaudreau won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Dick Anderson won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 9:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Fred Girod won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 12:
Scott Hooper won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Bruce Starr won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 14:

Incumbent Lew Frederick won the Democratic primary unopposed.

For District 23:
Khanh Pham won the Democratic primary unopposed.

Incumbent Chris Gorsek won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Raymond Love won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 27:
Anthony Broadman won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Michael Summers won the Republican primary unopposed.
For District 28:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Diane Linthicum won the Republican primary with 59.0% against Dave Henslee with 40.7%. 20,211 votes counted.
For District 29:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Todd Nash won the Republican primary with 53.0% against Jim Doherty with 25.0%, Dave Drotzmann with 20.2%, and Andy Huwe with 1.7%. 16,705 votes counted.
For District 30:
No candidate qualified for the Democratic primary.
Mike McLane won the Republican primary with 67.4% against Douglas Muck Jr. with 24.2% and Robert Neuman with 8.1%. 19,556 votes counted.
The general election for these 15 seats in the Oregon State Senate will occur on Tuesday, November 5.
