Tobias Read, Dan Rayfield and Elizabeth Steiner Easily Prevail in Primaries for Statewide Offices in Oregon
Full results in the statewide primaries for Attorney General, Secretary of State and Auditor.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Oregon to select candidates for the November general election. That included three races for statewide executive offices.
It only takes a plurality of the vote in the primary for a candidate to receive their party’s nomination. Notably, the incumbents for Attorney General, Secretary of State and Treasurer aren’t seeking re-election this year. That means competitive primaries for all of these statewide positions.
For Attorney General:
Dan Rayfield won the Democratic primary with 76.0% against Shaina Pomerantz with 24.0%. 450,524 votes counted.
Will Lathrop won the Republican primary with 64.9% against Michael Cross with 35.1%. 324,500 votes counted.
For Secretary of State:
Tobias Read won the Democratic primary with 70.7% against James Manning Jr. with 21.5%, James Crary with 3.8%, Paul Wells with 2.2%, and David Stauffer with 1.8%. 464,714 votes counted.
Dennis Linthicum won the Republican primary with 66.3% against Brent Barker with 20.6% and Tim McCloud with 13.1%. 327,274 votes counted.
For Treasurer:
Elizabeth Steiner won the Democratic primary with 78.7% against Jeff Gudman with 21.3%. 454,730 votes counted.
Brian Boquist won the Republican primary unopposed.
The general election for these three statewide races in Oregon - in addition to the contests for the U.S. House of Representatives, the State Senate and the State House - will occur on Tuesday, November 5.
