Eugene DePasquale Leads Democratic Primary for Pennsylvania Attorney General
Plus, full results in the primaries for State Treasurer and Auditor General.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Pennsylvania to select candidates for the November general election. That included four races for statewide office - three executive positions and one federal seat in the U.S. Congress.
In Pennsylvania, it only takes a plurality of the vote in the primary for a candidate to receive their party’s nomination. The most competitive primary today is for Attorney General as appointed incumbent Michelle Henry opted not to seek a full term in office.
For U.S. Senate:
Three-term incumbent Bob Casey Jr. won the Democratic primary unopposed.
David McCormick won the Republican primary unopposed.
For Attorney General:
Eugene DePasquale won the Democratic primary with 35.5% against Jack Stollsteimer with 20.2%, Joe Khan with 16.0%, Keir Bradford-Grey with 15.2%, and Jared Solomon with 13.1%. 1,045,203 votes counted.
David Sunday won the Republican primary with 70.4% against Craig Williams with 29.6%. 880,392 votes counted.
For State Treasurer:
Erin McClelland won the Democratic primary with 54.2% against Ryan Bizzarro with 45.8%. 1,004,107 votes counted.
One-term incumbent Stacy Garrity won the Republican primary unopposed.
For Auditor General:
Malcolm Kenyatta won the Democratic primary with 64.5% against Mark Pinsley with 35.5%. 1,010,520 votes counted.
One-term incumbent Timothy DeFoor won the Republican primary unopposed.
The general election for these four statewide races in Pennsylvania - in addition to the contests for the U.S. House of Representatives, the State Senate and the State House - will occur on Tuesday, November 5.
