Katherine E. Oler Becomes Judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia
Oler is the 15th judge confirmed to the state court during Joe Biden's presidency.
The U.S. Senate today held a recorded vote to confirm one individual nominated by President Joe Biden to serve on a trial court in Washington, D.C. - the equivalent of a state court covering the nation’s capital.
In a 52-42 vote, Katherine E. Oler was confirmed as an Associate Judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for a term of fifteen years. She is Biden’s fifteenth confirmation to the 62-person court, with ten additional vacancies where eight nominees have been announced.
Oler assumes the Washington, D.C.-based seat previously held by John M. Campbell, who retired in February 2023. A nominee of President Bill Clinton, Campbell served on this court from 1997 to 2023. Oler was nominated to this seat on the local judiciary by Biden in July 2023.
Oler has served as a court-appointed Special Master of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims since 2017. Previously, she served as an Air Force Judge Advocate from 1996 to 2017 - retiring from active duty as a Colonel.
