Senate Confirms Rose E. Jenkins as Judge for the U.S. Tax Court
Jenkins becomes the third confirmation to the specialty court during Joe Biden's presidency.
The U.S. Senate today held a recorded vote to confirm one individual as an Article I federal judge. With this confirmation, nine judges nominated by President Joe Biden have now been confirmed by the Senate for these specialty courts.
In a 69-17 vote, Rose E. Jenkins was confirmed as a Judge of the U.S. Tax Court for a term of fifteen years. She is Biden’s third confirmation to the 19-person court, with three additional vacancies where the President’s nominees are awaiting confirmation by the Senate.
Jenkins assumes the Washington, D.C.-based seat previously held by Elizabeth Crewson Paris, whose term expired in July 2023. A nominee of President George W. Bush, Paris served on this court from 2008 to 2023. Jenkins was nominated to this seat on the specialty court by Biden in February 2024.
Jenkins began her legal career as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & From LLP from 2008 to 2013. From 2013 to 2020, she joined the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel (International) - as an attorney, senior counsel, and finally Special Counsel. From 2020 to 2021, she served as a Managing Director in KPMG’s Washington National Tax office. From 2021 to 2023, she was a Senior Attorney Advisor at the Tax Law Center at New York University Law School. Since 2023, she has been an attorney in the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel (Procedure & Administration).
