The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Florida to select candidates for the November general election. That included the races for all 28 seats in the state’s delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives for regular two-year terms.
For the 118th Congress (which runs from January 2023 to January 2025), Florida is served by 20 Republicans and 8 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives. 27 incumbents ran for re-nomination - with Bill Posey of the 8th District retiring. It only takes a plurality of the vote for a candidate to receive their party’s nomination.
For the 1st District:
Gay Valimont won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Matt Gaetz won the Republican primary with 72.6% against Aaron Dimmock with 27.4%. 97,551 votes counted.
For the 2nd District:
Meghann Hovey won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Incumbent Neal Dunn won the Republican primary with 82.7% against Rhonda Woodward with 17.3%. 83,523 votes counted.

For the 7th District:
Jennifer Adams won the Democratic primary with 62.7% against Allek Pastrana with 21.2% and Tatiana Fernandez with 16.1%. 36,991 votes counted.

Sandy Kennedy won the Democratic primary with 60.7% against Dan McDow with 39.3%. 40,666 votes counted.

Incumbent Darren Soto won the Democratic primary unopposed.
Thomas Chalifoux won the Republican primary with 49.6% against John Quiñones with 25.7% and Jose Castillo with 24.7%. 25,489 votes counted.

Incumbent Maxwell Frost won the Democratic primary with 81.8% against Wade Darius with 12.6% and Issa White with 5.6%. 40,595 votes counted.
