Colin Barushok Wins Special Election for Dane County Board of Supervisors
The special election was called following the resignation of Supervisor Elizabeth Doyle.
The special election occurred today in Wisconsin to fill a vacancy on the Dane County Board of Supervisors. Two candidates qualified for the nonpartisan special election. That avoided the need for a primary to narrow the field in May.
The special election for District 1 on the Dane County Board of Supervisors was called following the resignation of Supervisor Elizabeth Doyle upon moving out of the district. She represented this district from June 2019 to March 2025. She was re-elected unopposed in April 2024.
District 1 on the 37-member nonpartisan body includes downtown Madison.

For District 1, Colin Barushok won with 51.6% (553) against Adrian Lampron with 48.4% (518). 1,071 votes counted.
Since December 2021, Barushok has been a legislative assistant to the Democratic minority in the Wisconsin State Legislature. Since May 2025, he has also been Chair of the Alcohol License Review Committee in Madison.
According to 2024 estimates, Dane County is the second most populous county in Wisconsin. Since 1932, the county has supported the Democratic candidate in every presidential election - with the exceptions of Dwight Eisenhower’s 1952 and 1956 landslides. During the 2024 election, Democrat Kamala Harris carried Dane County by a 74.9-23.4 margin against Republican Donald Trump.
All 37 seats on the Dane County Board of Supervisors will next be up for regular two-year terms in April 2026.
