Attorney Stacy Lake Wins Democratic Nomination for Jackson County Executive
Clay, Greene, Jackson, St. Charles, and St. Louis Counties in Missouri held primaries for local positions.
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Missouri to select candidates for the November 2026 general election. This post covers the races for county positions in five of the state’s most-populous counties. That includes Clay, Greene, Jackson, St. Charles, and St. Louis Counties. It also features the contests in the independent city of St. Louis. Separate posts will be covering the primaries for federal and statewide executive races as well as both chambers of the state legislature.
The general election for these county positions in Missouri will be held on November 3, 2026.
Clay County Board of Commissioners (Nonpartisan):
For Presiding Commissioner, realtor Jennifer Justus and incumbent Jerry Nolte will advance with 43.6% (23,728) and 35.6% (19,361) against former State Representative Jay Swearingen with 20.9% (11,355). 54,444 votes counted.
For Eastern District Seat 2, incumbent Jay Johnson and executive coach Mark McAuliffe will advance.
For Western District Seat 2, incumbent Jon Carpenter and nurse Theresa Leaming will advance with 54.1% (12,289) and 37.6% (8,530) against James Lyen with 8.3% (1,897). 22,716 votes counted.

For Prosecuting Attorney, incumbent Zachary Thompson will advance.

Attorney Stacy Lake won the Democratic primary with 45.9% (39,872) against former Lee’s Summit mayor Bill Baird with 20.2% (17,533), former County Legislator Dan Tarwater with 19.8% (17,220), County Legislator Manny Abarca with 9.5% (8,260), activist Ryan Meyer with 2.6% (2,302), and Metropolitan Community College trustee Holmes Osborne with 2.0% (1,751). 86,938 votes counted.
Army veteran Alan Rohlfing won the Republican primary.
At-Large District 1:
Attorney Carla Fields won the Democratic primary with 49.2% (38,725) against incumbent Jalen Anderson with 27.4% (21,559) and Planning Commissioner Justice Horn with 23.5% (18,483). 78,767 votes counted.
Grain Valley school board member Lance Pollard won the Republican primary.
At-Large District 2:
Incumbent Donna Peyton won the Democratic primary with 74.1% (58,539) against former Kansas City councilmember Brandon Ellington with 25.9% (20,517). 79,056 votes counted.
Insurance broker Gresia Cabrera won the Republican primary.

Incumbent Steve Ehlmann won the Republican primary with 47.8% (28,993) against former State Senator Bill Eigel with 31.7% (19,208), Lake St. Louis mayor Jason Law with 19.1% (11,620), and perennial candidate Arnie Deinoff with 1.4% (874). 60,695 votes counted.
