Republican Vivek Ramaswamy and Democrat Amy Acton to Face Off for Ohio Governor
Ohio held statewide primaries for Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Auditor, and the Supreme Court
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Ohio to select candidates for the November 2026 general election. This post covers the races for statewide executive offices. That includes contests for Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Auditor as well as two judicial seats on the Supreme Court. Separate posts will be covering the primaries for federal races, both chambers of the state legislature, and county contests.
The general election for all of these statewide executive offices will be held on November 3, 2026.
Governor:
Former State Health Director Amy Acton won the Democratic primary.
Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy won the Republican primary with 82.5% (673,902) against entrepreneur Casey Putsch with 17.5% (143,257). 817,159 votes counted.
Attorney General:
Upper Arlington city councilmember John Kulewicz won the Democratic primary with 63.2% (442,799) against former State Representative Elliot Forhan with 36.8% (258,289). 701,088 votes counted.
State Auditor Keith Faber won the Republican primary.
Secretary of State:
State Representative Allison Russo won the Democratic primary with 67.4% (484,215) against oncologist Bryan Hambley with 32.6% (234,087). 718,302 votes counted.
State Treasurer Robert Sprague won the Republican primary with 70.2% (541,220) against Air Force veteran Marcell Strbich with 29.8% (229,605). 770,825 votes counted.
Treasurer:
Cincinnati city councilmember Seth Walsh won the Democratic primary.
Former State Representative Jay Edwards won the Republican primary with 53.1% (410,282) against State Senator Kristina Roegner with 46.9% (363,040). 773,322 votes counted.
Auditor:
Maple Heights mayor Annette Blackwell won the Democratic primary.
Secretary of State Frank LaRose won the Republican primary.
Supreme Court (Two Seats):
Brunner Seat:
Incumbent Jennifer Brunner won the Democratic primary.
Second District Court of Appeals judge Colleen O’Donnell won the Republican primary with 32.2% (236,083) against Fifth District Court of Appeals judge Andrew King with 29.7% (218,242), Ninth District Court of Appeals judge Jill Flagg Lanzinger with 20.0% (147,209), and Second District Court of Appeals judge Ronald Lewis with 18.1% (132,769). 734,303 votes counted.
Hawkins Seat:
First District Court of Appeals judge Marilyn Zayas won the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Dan Hawkins won the Republican primary.
