Casting News - "Best Medicine," "Brilliant Minds" and "Vladimir"
The FOX hourlong comedy sets the characters in its love triangle.
FOX's BEST MEDICINE
Abigail Spencer and Josh Segarra are set as series regulars on the upcoming comedy starring Josh Charles. Spencer previously starred for four seasons in SundanceTV's Rectify and two seasons in NBC's Timeless. Segarra starred for three seasons in Comedy Central's The Other Two and two seasons in AppleTV+'s The Big Door Prize.
Spencer will play Louisa, a warm, charming teacher who immediately gets off on the wrong foot with Martin (Charles), yet she's intrigued by him.
Segarra will play Sheriff Mark Mylow, the lovable, open-hearted lawman who may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but knows this town like the back of his hand. Heartbroken over the breakup of his long-term girlfriend Louisa, he is excited to befriend Martin. But as Martin and Louisa grow closer, an awkward love triangle emerges.
NBC's BRILLIANT MINDS
Brian Altemus and John Clarence Stewart have been cast as new series regulars on the drama's upcoming second season. Altemus previously starred in Netflix's one-season drama Grand Army and in Prime Video's one-season drama Shelter. Stewart starred for two seasons in NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and recurred on Starz's P-Valley.
Altemus will play Dr. Charlie Porter, the new neurology resident who is guarded, competitive and hiding something from his fellow doctors. He believes in winning and sees medicine not as a calling, but a sport.
Stewart will play Dr. Anthony Thorne, a mid-career ER doctor who's grown a little too comfortable with the maxim that emergency medicine is blue-collar work. He is charmingly acerbic, allergic to anything or anyone too earnest, and believes helping a little for all is better than doing the most for a few, putting him in direct conflict with Dr. Wolf (Zachary Quinto).
NETFLIX's VLADIMIR
John Slattery, Jessica Henwick, Ellen Robertson, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Matt Walsh, Tattiawna Jones and Louise Lambert have joined the cast of the upcoming limited series starring Rachel Weisz and Leo Woodall. Slattery previously starred for seven seasons in AMC's Mad Men. Henwick starred for two seasons in Netflix's Iron Fist. Robertson appeared in the film Mickey 17. Both Carter and Silverman recurred on Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Johnson starred in FX's one-season drama Kindred. Walsh starred for seven seasons in HBO's Veep. Jones currently stars in AppleTV+'s Murderbot. Lambert guest starred on Syfy's Chucky and FOX's Doc.
As series regulars, Slattery will play John, Henwick will play Cynthia, and Robertson will play Sid.
In recurring roles, Carter will play Lila, Silverman will play Florence, Johnson will play Edwina, Walsh will play David, Jones will play Alexis, and Lambert will play Dawn.
HBO's UNTITLED STEVE CARELL COMEDY
Robby Hoffman has landed a recurring role on the upcoming comedy starring Steve Carell, Charly Clive, Phil Dunster, Danielle Deadwyler, Lauren Tsai and John C. McGinley. The stand-up comedian previously recurred on FX's Dying for Sex and Max's Hacks.
