Amanda Warren Set as New Series Regular on Netflix's "The Night Agent"
Warren is the first new cast addition for Season 2.
Amanda Warren has been cast as a new series regular on the upcoming second season of Netflix’s The Night Agent. She is the first new cast addition for the new season.
The drama developed by Shawn Ryan will see a largely new plot and core set of characters in its second season. Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan are the only returning series regulars from the first season.
Warren will play Catherine Weaver, a veteran of the top-secret Night Action investigative program, who trains and oversees various Night Agents, including new recruit Peter Sutherland (Basso). Smart, private and determined, Catherine is a fierce defender of her agents, but finds it difficult to earn Peter’s trust when he struggles with betrayal issues from his experiences in Season 1.
Based on the 2019 novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent released its first season in March 2023 and quickly became one of the streamer’s most viewed dramas. It was quickly picked up for a second season. Work on the new episodes was delayed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The drama is still expected to return with a 10-episode second season sometime in 2024.
Warren previously played the lead role in CBS’ East New York, which was cancelled after one season. She previously starred in the first season of HBO’s The Leftovers, the first season of USA’s The Purge and the third season of AppleTV+’s Dickinson. She also recurred on CBS’ NCIS: New Orleans, CBS’ Madam Secretary and Max’s Gossip Girl.
