AppleTV+ has today renewed its original dramedy series Murderbot for a second season. The renewal came ahead of the first season finale being released tomorrow, July 11.
The series stars Alexander Skarsgård, Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones and Tamara Podemski.
Chris and Paul Weitz developed the series based on the novels by Martha Wells. They executive produce with Skarsgård, David S. Goyer, Andrew Miano and Keith Levine. Wells serves as a consulting producer. CBS Studios, Depth of Field Productions and Phantom Four Films produce.
"We're so grateful for the response that Murderbot has received, and delighted that we're getting to go back to Martha Wells' world to work with Alexander, Apple, CBS Studios and the rest of the team," said the Weitz brothers.
"Chris, Paul, Alexander and the entire Murderbot team have delivered a brilliantly original, addictive, witty and vibrant adaptation that has captured the imagination of audiences everywhere," added Matt Cherniss, Head of Programming, AppleTV+. "We can't wait to unveil what's next for Murderbot and, of course, Sanctuary Moon in season two."
