The Spanish player contested the final against Lorenzo Musetti of Italy.
Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, 21, defeated Lorenzo Musetti of Italy, 23, to win the Men’s Singles title at the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France (an ATP Masters 1000 event). The score in the final was 3-6, 6-1 and 6-0 in favor of Alcaraz.
This was the fifth match Alcaraz and Musetti have played against each other on the ATP Tour - with Alcaraz leading 3-1 in their head-to-head. Today’s victory was the second title Alcaraz has won on the 2025 ATP Tour and the 18th title of his career in single’s competition. Notably, this was the ninth title he has claimed from a clay court event and his sixth from a 1000-level tournament. Moreover, he becomes the first player representing Spain to win the title at the Monte-Carlo Masters since Rafael Nadal prevailed for the eleventh time in 2018.
Heading into this tournament, Alcaraz was ranked as the Number 3 tennis player on the 2025 ATP Tour, while Musetti carried the Number 16 designation. By winning, Alcaraz has received 1,000 points in the overall rankings. Meanwhile, Musetti has picked up 650 points.
Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece (No. 8) was the tournament’s reigning champion. This year as the event’s sixth seed, he lost in the quarterfinals against Musetti. Furthermore, Alcaraz and Musetti were the event’s second and 13th seeds, respectively. The top eight seeds received a bye into the second round of competition.
Alcaraz arrived in the final after winning against Francisco Cerúndolo of Argentina (No. 22), qualifier Daniel Altmaier of Germany (No. 84), 12th seed Arthur Fils of France (No. 15), and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain (No. 42). This was the 23rd ATP final he has contested and his seventh at a 1000-level event.
In the other half of the main draw, Musetti defeated qualifier Bu Yunchaokete of China (No. 67), Jiří Lehečka of the Czech Republic (No. 28), Matteo Berrettini of Italy (No. 34), Tsitsipas, and eighth seed Alex de Minaur of Australia (No. 10). This was the sixth ATP final he has competed in and his first at a 1000-level event.
The revised rankings for the 2025 ATP Tour will be officially released on Monday, April 14. The tour will then play two tournaments from April 14-20: the Barcelona Open in Barcelona, Spain (an ATP 500 event) and the Bavarian International Tennis Championships in Munich, Germany (an ATP 500 event). Both competitions will be played on clay courts.
Casper Ruud of Norway (No. 7) is the reigning champion at the Barcelona Open. He will be attempting a title defense as the event’s second seed this year. In the first round, he will battle qualifier Daniel Elahi Galán of Colombia (No. 115). Meanwhile, Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany (No. 49) is the reigning champion at the Bavarian International Tennis Championships. He will also be trying to defend the title as an unseeded player this year. In the first round, he will play against fifth seed Cerúndolo.
And finally, Alcaraz will compete in the Barcelona Open as the event’s first seed. In the first round, he will face off against qualifier Ethan Quinn of the United States (No. 123). Musetti was originally scheduled to play in Barcelona. However, he decided to withdraw from the main draw following his run at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
