General David W. Allvin Approved as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force
All seats on the Joint Chiefs of Staff finally have Senate-confirmed leaders.
The U.S. Senate today held a recorded vote to confirm one individual nominated by President Joe Biden to serve in a command post of the U.S. Military - specifically leading the U.S. Air Force, one of the country’s six branches of the armed forces.
In a 95-1 vote, General David W. Allvin was confirmed as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force for a term expiring in August 2028. He has served as the Acting Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force since October 2023, when General Charles Q. Brown Jr. was promoted to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Allvin has served as the Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force since November 2020. Notably, he has been the first Acting Chief of Staff since July 2008 when General T. Michael Moseley resigned following numerous Air Force scandals.
Joining the U.S. Air Force in 1986, Allvin has commanded the 905th Air Refueling Squadron, the 97th Air Mobility Wing, the 438th Air Expeditionary Wing, the NATO Air Training Command in Afghanistan, and the 618th Air and Space Operations Center.
