Gabriel Diallo Claims His First Career ATP Title at 2025 Libéma Open
The Canadian prevailed against Zizou Bergs of Belgium in the final.
Gabriel Diallo of Canada, 23, defeated Zizou Bergs of Belgium, 26, to win the Men’s Singles title at the 2025 Libéma Open in Rosmalen, Netherlands (an ATP 250 event). The score in the final was 7-5 and 7-6 (10-8 tiebreaker) in favor of Diallo.
This was the second match Bergs and Diallo have played against each other on the ATP Tour - with Diallo winning their prior meeting. Today’s victory was the first title Diallo has won on the 2025 ATP Tour and the first title of his career in single’s competition. He now becomes the seventh player to win his first ATP title during the 2025 season so far. That means his maiden title came from a grass court event at the 250-level. And finally, he becomes the first player representing Canada to win the title in Rosmalen since the event joined the tour in 1990.
Heading into this tournament, Diallo was ranked as the Number 55 tennis player on the 2025 ATP Tour, while Bergs carried the Number 63 designation. By winning in Rosmalen, Diallo has received 250 points in the overall rankings. Meanwhile, Bergs has picked up 165 points.
Alex de Minaur of Australia (No. 10) was the tournament’s reigning champion. He withdrew from this year’s main draw due to a shoulder injury. Furthermore, both Bergs and Diallo entered the main draw as unseeded players.
Diallo arrived in the final after winning against Aleksandar Vukic of Australia (No. 79), sixth seed Jordan Thompson of Australia (No. 37), third seed Karen Khachanov of Russia (No. 24), and second seed Ugo Humbert of France (No. 20). This was the second ATP final he has contested - both at 250-level events.
In the other half of the main draw, Bergs defeated qualifier Alexander Blockx of Belgium (No. 145), fourth seed Alexei Popyrin of Australia (No. 21), qualifier Mark Lajal of Estonia (No. 195), and lucky loser Reilly Opelka of the United States (No. 87). This was the second ATP final he has competed in - both also at 250-level events.
The revised rankings for the 2025 ATP Tour will be officially released on Monday, June 16. The tour will then play two tournaments from June 16-22: the Halle Open in Halle, Germany (an ATP 500 event) and the Queen’s Club Championships in London, United Kingdom (an ATP 500 event). Both competitions will be played on grass courts.
Jannik Sinner of Italy (No. 1) is the reigning champion at the Halle Open. He is looking to defend the title as the event’s top seed this year. In the first round, he will face off against qualifier Yannick Hanfmann of Germany (No. 135). Meanwhile, Tommy Paul of the United States (No. 8) is the reigning champion at the Queen’s Club Championships. However, he has withdrawn from the main draw with an abdominal strain.
Furthermore, Bergs will be competing as an unseeded player at the Halle Open. In the first round, he will battle eighth seed Khachanov. And finally, Diallo will play as an unseeded player at the Queen’s Club Championships. In the first round, he will combat wildcard Billy Harris of the United Kingdom (No. 108).
