Senate Confirms Gail A. Weilheimer as Federal Judge in Pennsylvania
Weilheimer becomes the 226th federal judge confirmed by the U.S. Senate during Joe Biden's presidency.
The U.S. Senate today held a recorded vote to confirm one individual as an Article III federal judge. With this confirmation, 226 judges nominated by President Joe Biden have now been confirmed by the Senate. With today’s action, 178 of Biden’s judicial nominees have been approved for service on federal district courts.
In a 50-48 vote, Gail A. Weilheimer was confirmed as a Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She is Biden’s seventh confirmation to the 22-person court, with no additional vacancies at this time.
Weilheimer assumes the Philadelphia-based seat previously held by Gene E.K. Pratter, who died at age 75 while on active service in May 2024. A nominee of President George W. Bush, Pratter joined the district court in June 2004. Weilheimer was nominated to this seat on the federal judiciary by Biden in July 2024.
From 1995 to 2002, Weilheimer worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. She then became an associate at Frank & Rosen LLP from 2003 to 2006 and a senior counsel at Wisler Pearlstine LLP from 2006 to 2013. Furthermore, she was elected as a Commissioner for Abington Township, Pennsylvania from 2004 to 2008. Since 2014, she has been a Judge for the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.
