Hulu Picks Up Comedy "Phony" Starring Connie Britton and Sam Nivola

Hulu has today given a series order to the original comedy series Phony starring Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, Nashville) and Sam Nivola (The White Lotus, The Perfect Couple). The project produced a pilot at the streamer earlier this year.
The coming-of-age mystery will center on a teenager (Nivola) who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to discover his mom (Britton) - his only parent and his best friend - appears to have been replaced by an imposter.
Nick Paley wrote and directed the pilot. He will serve as co-showrunner on the first season alongside Anthony King. They will executive produce with Britton, Drew Goddard, Charlie Alderman and Sarah Esberg. 20th Television, Goddard Textiles and Charlie's Production Company will produce.
