Republicans Retain Five Statewide Offices in Kentucky
Kentucky voters elected Republicans to five statewide offices.
The general election occurred today to elect six statewide officials in Kentucky. A candidate needs to achieve a plurality of the vote to be elected. However, only two candidates appeared on the ballot for all of these contests.
For Attorney General, Republican Russell Coleman has won with 57.96% against Democrat Pamela Stevenson with 42.04%. 1,300,267 votes have been counted.
For Secretary of State, one-term Republican incumbent Michael Adams has prevailed with 59.97% against Democrat Buddy Wheatley with 40.03%. 1,308,484 votes have been counted.
For Auditor of Public Accounts, Republican Allison Ball has prevailed with 60.74% against Democrat Kim Reeder with 39.26%. 1,286,828 votes have been counted.
For Agriculture Commissioner, Republican Jonathan Shell has won with 59.36% against Democrat Sierra Enlow with 40.64%. 1,283,684 votes have been counted.
For Treasurer, Republican Mark Metcalf has won with 57.22% against Democrat Michael Bowman with 42.77%. 1,282,820 votes have been counted.
With Republicans winning these five statewide offices, Governor Andy Beshear and Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman will remain the only Democrats elected statewide in Kentucky. They were successfully re-elected to second terms as a joint ticket at the top of the ballot today.
Kentucky was one of only three states electing their statewide officials in 2023 - alongside Louisiana and Mississippi. Unlike those states though, Kentucky was only electing its statewide officers today. Members of the state legislature will next go before voters during the 2024 elections.
