Democrat David Sinclair Wins Special Election for Maine House District 50
The election was called following the resignation of State Representative Sean Paulhus (D).
The special election occurred today to fill a vacancy in the Maine House of Representatives. This is the second special election in 2023 for the state’s lower legislative chamber, with no additional vacancies at this time.
The special election for Maine State House District 50 was called following the resignation of State Representative Sean Paulhus, a Democrat, to become register of probate of Sagadahoc County. He represented the district from April 2019 to July 2023.
Democrat David Sinclair has been declared the winner of the special election. He ran unopposed.
An attorney, Sinclair previously served on the Bath City Council.
Maine State House District 50 covers the city of Bath.
Once Sinclair is sworn-in, Democrats will maintain control of the Maine House of Representatives with a 81-68-2 majority against Republicans and Independents. All 151 seats will next be up for regular two-year terms in November 2024.
