Mississippi House of Representatives Election Results
31 of 122 State House elections for four-year terms were contested.
The general election occurred today in Mississippi to fill all 122 seats in the State House of Representatives. The state is one of only four where state legislative elections are being held this year - alongside Louisiana, New Jersey and Virginia.
The Mississippi State Legislature is currently controlled by Republicans - with a 36-16 supermajority over Democrats in the State Senate and a 77-42-3 majority in the State House of Representatives against Democrats and Independents.
Republican candidates were elected after running unopposed on today’s ballot in Districts 1 (Lester Carpenter), 2 (Bradford Mattox), 8 (Trey Lamar), 10 (Josh Hawkins), 13 (Steve Massengill), 14 (Sam Creekmore IV), 15 (Beth Waldo), 17 (Shane Aguirre), 18 (Jerry Turner), 19 (Randy Boyd), 20 (Rodney Hall), 21 (Donnie Bell), 22 (Jon Lancaster), 25 (Dan Eubanks), 28 (W.I. Meanwhile, Democratic candidates were elected after also running unopposed in Districts 5 (John Faulkner), 11 (Lataisha Jackson), 16 (Rickey Thompson), 26 (Orlando Paden), 27 (Kenji Holloway), 29 (Robert Sanders), 30 (Tracey Rosebud), 31 (Otis Anthony II), 32 (Solomon Osborne), 36 (Karl Gibbs), 38 (Cheikh Taylor), 47 (Bryant Clark), 50 (John Hines), 51 (Timaka James-Jones), 55 (Oscar Denton), 57 (Lawrence Blackmon), 63 (Stephanie Foster), 65 (Christopher Bell), 66 (Fabian Nelson), 67 (Earle Banks), 68 (Zakiya Summers), 69 (Tamarra Butler-Washington), 70 (William Brown), 71 (Ronnie Crudup Jr), 72 (Justis Gibbs), 80 (Omeria Scott), 82 (Charles Young Jr.), 94 (Robert Johnson III), 98 (Daryl Porter Jr.), 103 (Percy Watson), 110 (Jeramey Anderson), and 119 (Jeffrey Hulum III).
And finally, an Independent candidate was elected unopposed today in District 96 (Angela Cockerham).
Based on the results, 79 Republicans, 41 Democrats and 2 Independents have been elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives for regular four-year terms. These numbers will be updating as more races are called tonight.
In District 3, Republican incumbent William Arnold has won with 80.20% against Democrat Jimmy Russell with 19.80%. 6,284 votes counted.
In District 4, Republican incumbent Joseph Steverson has prevailed with 88.38% against Libertarian Donald Scott with 11.62%. 5,784 votes counted.
In District 6, Republican Justin Keen has won with 58.81% against Democrat Jarvis Cook with 38.92% and Libertarian Amos Thompson with 2.27%. 4,591 votes counted.
In District 7, Republican Kimberly Remak has prevailed with 59.72% against Democrat Gail Lyons with 40.28%. 4,382 votes counted.
In District 9, Democratic incumbent Cedric Burnett has won with 70.97% against Republican Randy Denton with 29.03%. 6,204 votes counted.
In District 12, Republican incumbent Clay Deweese has prevailed with 62.53% against Democrat Donna Niewiaroski with 37.47%. 4,446 votes counted.
In District 23, Republican Andrew Stepp has won with 72.63% against Democrat Danny Lampley with 15.15% and Independent Andy Clark with 12.23%. 7,730 votes counted.
In District 24, Republican incumbent Jeffery Hale has prevailed with 67.60% against Democrat David Olds with 32.40%. 5,571 votes counted.
In District 40, Democratic incumbent Hester Jackson-McCray has won with 65.60% against Republican Jacob Hisaw with 34.40%. 2,648 votes counted.
In District 41, Democratic incumbent Kabir Karriem has prevailed with 78.91% against Libertarian Claude Simpson with 21.09%. 5,884 votes counted.
In District 42, Democratic incumbent Carl Mickens has won with 92.91% against Libertarian Shantell Stevens with 7.09%. 4,117 votes counted.
In District 44, Republican incumbent C. Scott Bounds has prevailed with 89.75% against Libertarian Phillip Pope with 10.25%. 5,521 votes counted.
In District 45, Democrat Keith Jackson has won with 53.80% against Republican Michael Cassidy with 36.58% and Independent Trent Rickles with 9.61%. 6,782 votes counted.
In District 49, Democratic incumbent Willie Bailey has prevailed with 83.32% against Libertarian Stacy Smith with 16.68%. 3,957 votes counted.
In District 52, Republican incumbent Bill Kinkade has won with 61.27% against Democrat Dianne Black with 38.73%. 5,017 votes counted.
In District 56, Republican Clay Mansell has prevailed with 66.29% against Democrat Sharon Moman with 33.71%. 7,607 votes counted.
In District 64, Independent incumbent Shanda Yates has won with 62.05% against Republican Amile Wilson with 37.95%. 7,099 votes counted.
In District 75, Republican Celeste Hurst has prevailed with 73.87% against Independent Ryshonda Beechem with 26.13%. 7,156 votes counted.
In District 76, Democratic incumbent Gregory Holloway has won with 73.02% against Republican Rickey Smylie with 26.98%. 6,657 votes counted.
In District 85, Democratic incumbent Jeffery Harness has prevailed with 78.94% against Libertarian Michael Longnecker with 21.06%. 6,667 votes counted.
In District 86, Republican incumbent Shane Barnett has won with 65.46% against Democrat Annita Bonner with 34.54%. 8,744 votes counted.
In District 91, Democratic incumbent Bob Evans has prevailed with 65.94% against Republican Steve Moreman with 34.06%. 8,534 votes counted.
In District 97, Republican incumbent Sam Mims V has won with 70.37% against Democrat Ben Thompson with 29.63%. 7,615 votes counted.
In District 99, Republican incumbent Bill Pigott has prevailed with 84.17% against Green Gregory Fortenberry with 15.83%. 6,330 votes counted.
In District 104, Republican incumbent Larry Byrd has won with 86.63% against Libertarian Melissa Brady with 13.37%. 6,057 votes counted.
In District 105, Republican Elliot Burch has prevailed with 76.13% against Democrat Matthew Daves with 23.87%. 7,165 votes counted.
In District 114, Republican incumbent Jeffrey Guice has won with 82.20% against Libertarian Casey Whitehead with 17.80%. 3,853 votes counted.
In District 117, Republican incumbent Kevin Felsher has prevailed with 100% against Libertarian Mark Simmons with 0%. 3,560 votes counted.
In District 120, Republican incumbent Richard Bennett has won with 80.72% against Libertarian Cameron Roberson with 19.28%. 4,916 votes counted.
In District 121, Republican incumbent Carolyn Crawford has prevailed with 64.30% against Democrat John DeDeaux with 35.70%. 6,123 votes counted.
