Netflix Renews "Virgin River" for Season 8
The drama returns for its seventh season this winter.
Netflix has today renewed its original drama series Virgin River for an eighth season. The renewal comes just weeks after the drama completed production for its upcoming seventh season - which will likely premiere in either December 2025 or January 2026.
The drama stars Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson, Annette O'Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Kai Bradbury and Kandyse McClure.
Sue Tenney developed the drama based on the novels by Robyn Carr. Both executive produce with showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, Amy Palmer Robertson, Roma Roth, Christopher E. Perry, Erin Cardillo, Richard Keith and Jennifer Monroe. Breckenridge and Henderson serve as producers.
With this renewal, Virgin River will become Netflix's longest-running live-action English-language scripted series. It will surpass comedy Grace and Frankie and dramedy Orange Is the New Black which both ran for seven seasons. With another 10-episode season, Virgin River will produce at least 84 episodes across eight seasons. Notably, that is less than Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black which produced more episodes each season. Furthermore, the Spanish-language drama Élite also ran for eight seasons on Netflix. It only produced 64 episodes during that time.
