Novak Djokovic Finally Achieves 100 ATP Titles With Victory at 2025 Geneva Open
The Serbian becomes the third player to accomplish this feat in the Open Era.
It’s official! Novak Djokovic of Serbia, 38, has now won 100 titles on the ATP Tour. He achieved the distinction earlier today by winning the 2025 Geneva Open in Geneva, Switzerland (an ATP 250 event). In the final, Djokovic prevailed 5-7, 7-6 (7-2 tiebreaker) and 7-6 (7-2 tiebreaker) against Hubert Hurkacz of Poland, 28.
This was the eighth match Djokovic and Hurkacz have played against each other on the ATP Tour - with Djokovic winning all of their prior meetings. Today’s victory was the first title Djokovic has won on the 2025 ATP Tour, his 21st from a clay court event, and his 13th from a 250-level tournament. Moreover, he becomes the first player representing Serbia to win the title in Geneva since the event returned to the tour in 2015 as well as the tournament’s oldest champion. And finally, he is now the third player to ever win 100 ATP titles during the Open Era - following Jimmy Connors of the United States (109) and Roger Federer of Switzerland (103).
Heading into this tournament, Djokovic was ranked as the Number 6 tennis player on the 2025 ATP Tour, while Hurkacz carried the Number 31 designation. By winning in Geneva, Djokovic has received 250 points in the overall rankings. Meanwhile, Hurkacz has picked up 165 points.
Casper Ruud of Norway (No. 7) was the tournament’s reigning champion. He withdrew from the main draw after reaching the quarterfinals in Rome last week. Furthermore, Djokovic and Hurkacz were the event’s second and sixth seeds, respectively. The top four seeds received a bye into the second round of competition.
Djokovic arrived in the final after winning against Márton Fucsovics of Hungary (No. 134), eighth seed Matteo Arnaldi of Italy (No. 39), and qualifier Cameron Norrie of the United Kingdom (No. 90). This was the 143rd ATP final he has contested and his 18th at a 250-level event.
In the other half of the main draw, Hurkacz defeated wildcard Arthur Cazaux of France (No. 113), Arthur Rinderknech of France (No. 72), first seed Taylor Fritz of the United States (No. 4), and qualifier Sebastian Ofner of Austria (No. 128). This was the 12th ATP final he has competed in and his sixth at a 250-level event.
The revised rankings for the 2025 ATP Tour will be officially released on Monday, May 26. The tour will then play one tournament from May 25-June 8: the French Open in Paris, France (a Grand Slam event). The competition will be played on clay courts.
Carlos Alcaraz of Spain (No. 2) is the reigning champion at the French Open. He is looking to defend the title as the event’s second seed this year. In the first round, he will face off against qualifier Giulio Zeppieri of Italy (No. 306).
Djokovic will be contesting the Grand Slam in Paris as the sixth seed. He is attempting to become the first player to win a 25th major singles title as well as the first man to complete a quadruple Career Grand Slam. In the first round, he will battle Mackenzie McDonald of the United States (No. 99).
And finally, Hurkacz has entered the Grand Slam as the 30th seed. In the first round, he will play João Fonseca of Brazil (No. 65).
