Republican Heather Graham Prevails in Pueblo, Colorado Mayoral Runoff
The runoff was ordered after no candidate achieve a majority on the first ballot.
The runoff occurred today to elect the Mayor of Pueblo, Colorado. The runoff was called after none of the candidates achieved a 50%+1 majority during the November 7, 2023 nonpartisan ballot.
Republican Heather Graham has been declared the winner of the mayoral runoff. The race was called in her favor as she’s currently leading with 62.9% against one-term Democratic incumbent Mayor Nick Gradisar with 37.1%. 22,526 votes have been counted.
Graham has represented an At-Large district on the Pueblo City Council since January 2022.
Gradisar has served as the Mayor of Pueblo, Colorado since January 2019. Previously, he served on the Pueblo Board of Water Works for 14 years - including six as President.
Nine candidates competed in the first round of the nonpartisan ballot - where Graham and Gradisar led with 22.6% and 20.8%, respectively. Republican candidates outpaced Democratic candidates 55.2-42.9, with 1.9% going to an Independent.
The Mayor of Pueblo, Colorado serves for a four-year term with a limit of two terms they may serve. The Mayor also presides over a 7-member City Council.
According to 2022 estimates, Pueblo is the 275th most populous city in the United States and the ninth most populous city in Colorado.
