Tallon Griekspoor Takes Title at 2025 Mallorca Championships Without Dropping a Set
The Dutch player faced off against Corentin Moutet of France in the final.
Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands, 28, defeated Corentin Moutet of France, 26, to win the Men’s Singles title at the 2025 Mallorca Championships in Santa Ponsa, Spain (an ATP 250 event). The score in the final was 7-5 and 7-6 (7-3 tiebreaker) in favor of Griekspoor.
This was the first match Griekspoor and Moutet have ever played against each other on the ATP Tour. Today’s victory was the first title Griekspoor has won on the 2025 ATP Tour and the third title of his career in single’s competition. Notably, this was the first title he has claimed since prevailing at the Rosmalen Open in June 2023. Moreover, this was the second title he has taken from a grass court event and his third from a 250-level tournament. And finally, he becomes the first player representing the Netherlands to win the title in Santa Ponsa since the event joined the tour in 2021.
Heading into this tournament, Griekspoor was ranked as the Number 34 tennis player on the 2025 ATP Tour, while Moutet carried the Number 83 designation. By winning in Santa Ponsa, Griekspoor has received 250 points in the overall rankings. Meanwhile, Moutet has picked up 165 points.
Alejandro Tabilo of Chile (No. 60) was the tournament’s reigning champion. He withdrew from this year’s event due to injury. Furthermore, Griekspoor was the event’s fourth seed while Moutet competed as an unseeded player. The top four seeds received byes into the second round of competition.
Griekspoor arrived in the final after winning against qualifier Ethan Quinn of the United States (No. 95), sixth seed Gabriel Diallo of Canada (No. 41), and second seed Félix Auger-Aliassime of Canada (No. 27). He won the title without dropping a set this week. This was the fifth ATP final he has contested and his fourth at a 250-level event.
In the other half of the main draw, Moutet defeated Pedro Martínez of Spain (No. 52), eighth seed Daniel Altmaier of Germany (No. 59), Learner Tien of the United States (No. 67), and third seed Alex Michelsen of the United States (No. 33). This was the second ATP final he has competed in. Both were at 250-level events.
The revised rankings for the 2025 ATP Tour will be officially released on Monday, June 30. The tour will then play one tournament from June 30-July 13: Wimbledon in London, United Kingdom (a Grand Slam event). The competition will be played on grass courts.
Carlos Alcaraz of Spain (No. 2) is the two-time reigning champion at Wimbledon. He is looking to defend the title as the second seed at this year’s event. In the first round, he will face off against Fabio Fognini of Italy (No. 130).
Furthermore, Griekspoor will be competing as the event’s 31st seed. In the first round, he will battle Jenson Brooksby of the United States (No. 149), who has entered with a protected ranking designation. And finally, Moutet will be playing as an unseeded player. In the first round, he will contest Francisco Comesaña of Argentina (No. 65).
