Tanya J. Bradsher Confirmed by U.S. Senate as Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs
The VA has been led by Secretary Denis McDonough since February 2021.
The U.S. Senate today held a recorded vote to confirm one individual nominated by President Joe Biden to serve in the executive branch of government - specifically in the Department of Veterans Affairs.
In a 50-46 vote, Tanya J. Bradsher was confirmed as Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs. This office has been led by an acting official since April 2023 when Donald Remy resigned after serving since July 2021.
Bradsher was nominated to this position by Biden in April 2023. Since 2021, she has served as Chief of Staff to Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough.
Prior to her government service, Bradsher spent 20 years on active duty with the U.S. Army. After retiring from the military, she joined the National Security Council during the Obama administration and later became Chief of Staff to the Office of Congressman Don Beyer (VA-08).
