The all-American final also featured Jenson Brooksby
In the all-American final, defending champion Taylor Fritz, 27, defeated Jenson Brooksby, 24, to once again win the Men’s Singles title at the 2025 Eastbourne Open in Eastbourne, United Kingdom (an ATP 250 event). The score in the final was 7-5 and 6-1 in favor of Fritz.
This was the third match Brooksby and Fritz have played against each other on the ATP Tour - with both players winning one of their prior meetings. Today’s victory was the second title Fritz has won on the 2025 ATP Tour and the tenth title of his career in single’s competition. Notably, this was the fifth title he has claimed from a grass court event and his eighth from a 250-level tournament. Fritz was already the only player to win the title in Eastbourne three times since the event joined the tour in 2009. He previously prevailed in 2019, 2022 and 2024. That record now extends to four titles. He also becomes the first player to successfully defend the title since Feliciano López of Spain in 2014.
Heading into this tournament, Fritz was ranked as the Number 5 tennis player on the 2025 ATP Tour, while Brooksby carried the Number 149 designation. By winning in Eastbourne, Fritz has received 250 points in the overall rankings. Meanwhile, Brooksby has picked up 165 points.
As the defending champion, Fritz was the first seed in this year’s main draw. The top four seeds received byes into the second round of competition. Furthermore, Brooksby entered the main draw as a lucky loser after losing during the qualifying competition.
Fritz arrived in the final after winning against João Fonseca of Brazil (No. 57), Marcos Giron of the United States (No. 46), and sixth seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain (No. 28). This was the 18th ATP final he has contested and his 13th at a 250-level event.
In the qualifying round, Brooksby won against Kamil Majchrzak of Poland (No. 108) but lost against Aleksandar Vukic of Australia (No. 80). In the main draw, he defeated Francisco Comesaña of Argentina (No. 65), eighth seed Nuno Borges of Portugal (No. 37), wildcard Dan Evans of the United Kingdom (No. 170), and fourth seed Ugo Humbert of France (No. 20). This was the fifth ATP final he has competed in. All of which were at 250-level events.
The revised rankings for the 2025 ATP Tour will be officially released on Monday, June 30. The tour will then play one tournament from June 30-July 13: Wimbledon in London, United Kingdom (a Grand Slam event). The competition will be played on grass courts.
Carlos Alcaraz of Spain (No. 2) is the two-time reigning champion at Wimbledon. He is looking to defend the title as the second seed at this year’s event. In the first round, he will face off against Fabio Fognini of Italy (No. 130).
Furthermore, Fritz will be competing as the event’s fifth seed. In the first round, he will battle Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard of France (No. 36). And finally, Brooksby will be using a protected ranking designation to enter the main draw. He will play against 31st seed Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands (No. 34) in the first round.
