Federal Prosecutor Tiffany Rene Johnson Confirmed as Judge in Georgia
Johnson becomes the 230th federal judge approved by the U.S. Senate during Joe Biden's presidency.
The U.S. Senate today held a recorded vote to confirm one individual as an Article III federal judge. With this confirmation, 230 judges nominated by President Joe Biden have now been confirmed by the Senate. With today’s action, 182 of Biden’s judicial nominees have been approved for service on federal district courts.
In a 48-44 vote, Tiffany Rene Johnson was confirmed as a Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. She is Biden’s third confirmation to the 11-person court, with no additional vacancies at this time. Once commissioned, she will become the youngest judge serving on this court.
Johnson will assume the Atlanta-based seat currently held by Steve C. Jones, who will take senior status on New Year’s Day 2025. A nominee of President Barack Obama, Jones has served on this court since March 2011. Johnson was nominated to this seat on the federal judiciary by Biden in July 2024.
From 2012 to 2017, Johnson was an associate at Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP in Atlanta. Since 2017, she has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia - working in the civil division from 2017 to 2020 and in the criminal division since 2020.
