Timothy Olyphant Joins FX's "Alien" Created by Noah Hawley
Olyphant reunites with Hawley after appearing in the fourth season of FX's "Fargo."
Timothy Olyphant has joined the cast of FX’s upcoming original drama series Alien created by Noah Hawley. The series is imagined as a prequel to the film franchise of the same name.
No details were immediately announced about the character Olyphant will be playing. However, his casting reunites him with Hawley. Olyphant previously recurred on the fourth season of FX’s Fargo, which was created by Hawley.
The cast of the FX drama also features Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav and Kit Young.
Production on the drama commenced in Thailand in mid-July 2023. A month of filming occurred using scripts written before the WGA strike and British actors covered by the Equity contract instead of SAG-AFTRA. Production will resume in early 2024 and run through July. The drama will likely premiere in 2025.
Olyphant previously starred for three seasons in HBO’s Deadwood, six seasons in FX’s Justified and three seasons in Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet. In 2023, he appeared in the Amazon limited series Daisy Jones & the Six, the FX limited series Justified: City Primeval, and in the Max limited series Full Circle.
