Diane Dixon and Katrina Foley Proceed to Runoff for Orange County Board of Supervisors
Elections for offices in 26 of California's most-populous counties are detailed below.

The elections occurred today in California for county positions in 26 of the state’s most-populous counties. That includes Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Los Angeles, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Ventura Counties. Separate posts will be covering the primaries for federal races, statewide executive offices, both chambers of the state legislature, and mayoral seats.
In California, all candidates compete on the same ballot today with the top two finishers advancing to the general election. Unlike the races for statewide, federal, and legislative positions, a candidate for a county office can be elected outright today by achieving a 50%+1 majority. In that case, a second round of voting won’t be required this fall. These offices are officially nonpartisan as well.
For the county positions in California’s main population centers requiring a second round, those elections will take place on November 3, 2026.
