The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Illinois to select candidates for the November 2026 general election. This post covers the races for county positions in nine of the most populous counties in the Prairie State. That includes Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Madison, McHenry, St. Clair, Will, and Winnebago Counties. Separate posts will be covering the primaries for federal offices, statewide executive races, and both chambers of the state legislature.
The general election for these county positions in Illinois’ main population centers will be held on November 3, 2026.
