The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Illinois to select candidates for the November 2026 general election. Governor:
Incumbent JB Pritzker won the Democratic primary.
2022 nominee Darren Bailey won the Republican primary with 53.4% (301,856) against conservative news publisher Ted Dabrowski with 28.9% (163,325), DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick with 9.6% (54,074), and real estate developer Rick Heidner with 8.1% (45,835). 565,090 votes counted.
Attorney General:
Incumbent Kwame Raoul won the Democratic primary.
Former Chicago Alderman Bob Fioretti won the Republican primary.
Secretary of State:
Incumbent Alexi Giannoulias won the Democratic primary.
Joliet Junior College trustee Diane Harris won the Republican primary with 53.0% (277,053) against Chicago ward committeeman Walter Adamczyk with 47.0% (245,988). 523,041 votes counted.
Comptroller:
State Representative Margaret Croke won the Democratic primary with 34.6% (395,892) against State Senator Karina Villa with 32.3% (370,270), Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim with 24.4% (279,483), and State Representative Stephanie Kifowit with 8.7% (99,608). 1,145,253 votes counted.
Attorney Bryan Drew won the Republican primary.
Treasurer:
Incumbent Mike Frerichs won the Democratic primary.
No candidate qualified for the Republican primary.
