U.S. Representative Andy Biggs Scores GOP Nomination for Governor of Arizona
Arizona also held primaries for Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Superintendent, Mine Inspector, and the Corporation Commission
The Democratic and Republican primaries occurred today in Arizona to select candidates for the November 2026 general election. This post covers the races for statewide executive offices in the Grand Canyon State. That includes the contests for Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Mine Inspector, and two seats on the Corporation Commission. Separate posts will be covering the primaries for federal races, both chambers of the state legislative, and county contests.
The general election for these statewide executive offices will be held on November 3, 2026.
Governor:
Incumbent Katie Hobbs won the Democratic primary.
U.S. Representative Andy Biggs won the Republican primary with 74.0% (453,748) against U.S. Representative David Schweikert with 14.4% (88,269), contractor Scott Neely with 7.0% (42,860), and business owner Ken Miceli with 4.6% (28,022). 612,899 votes counted.
Secretary of State:
Incumbent Adrian Fontes won the Democratic primary.
State Representative Alexander Kolodin won the Republican primary with 59.8% (345,465) against former state party chair Gina Swoboda with 40.2% (231,807). 577,272 votes counted.
Attorney General:
Incumbent Kris Mayes won the Democratic primary.
State Senator Warren Petersen won the Republican primary with 56.4% (333,745) against former Tucson city councilmember Rodney Glassman with 43.6% (257,986). 591,731 votes counted.
Treasurer:
Entrepreneur Nick Mansour won the Democratic primary.
Former state party treasurer Elijah Norton won the Republican primary with 56.4% (326,892) against State Board of Education president Katherine Haley with 43.6% (252,747). 579,639 votes counted.
Superintendent of Public Instruction:
Former Glendale Community College president Teresa Ruiz won the Democratic primary with 79.5% (390,437) against behavioral analyst Brett Newby with 20.5% (100,700). 491,137 votes counted.
State Treasurer Kimberly Yee won the Republican primary with 53.2% (322,185) against incumbent Tom Horne with 46.8% (283,121). 605,306 votes counted.
Mine Inspector:
Mechanical engineer Brian Matlock won the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Les Presmyk won the Republican primary.
Corporation Commission (Two):
2024 nominee Jonathon Hill and former SBA official Clara Pratte won the Democratic primary.
Incumbent Kevin Thompson and State Representative Ralph Heap won the Republican primary with 35.8% (324,975) and 33.0% (299,273) against incumbent Nick Myers with 31.2% (283,092). 907,340 votes counted.
